The WBCA’s “So You Want To Be A Coach” program assists female collegiate basketball players who are interested in pursuing a career in coaching women’s basketball by providing them with professional development and career advancement through education, skills enhancement, networking and exposure opportunities. The program also increases awareness regarding the availability of talented female basketball players who want to coach.
The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) invites coaches, administrators and industry professionals to share their knowledge and expertise at the WBCA Convention. The available platforms for these presentations are learning labs (classroom), roundtables and on-court demonstrations.
- Learning labs vary from 45 minutes to 60 minutes. Some learning labs will have one speaker for 60 minutes and others will have two or three speakers presenting for 20 or 30 minutes each.
- Roundtables are one to two hours in length and range from 15-20 minutes in length per rotation. As a discussion leader you present your topic at each rotation for 15 minutes and engage others to participate.
- On-court presentations are 30-45 minutes and will take place on a half-court.
- “So You Want to Be A Coach” presenters speak to 50-75 former student athletes who have a strong desire to coach.
- Coaches Huddle presentations are similar to roundtables yet without rotations. Huddles will be 45 – 60 minutes on a topic of your choosing.
Applications will be reviewed by the WBCA Conference Captains and either the Assistant Coaches Committee or the Convention Advisory Group.
