The Association for Veterinary Informatics (AVI) is a non-profit international and interdisciplinary organization comprised of individuals involved in biomedical informatics research, design, implementation, education and advocacy within the domain of veterinary medicine. This includes the foundational components of biomedical informatics (knowledge engineering, computer science and information science) as it is applied to clinical research informatics, clinical informatics, bioinformatics, translational medicine and public health.
Talks should ideally fit one of the following topic areas:

- Informatics in Practice: Evidence-based veterinary medicine, Practice workflow, Electronic health records, Epidemiology, Statistics, Data transmission, Data mining
- The Backbone of Informatics: Standards, Interoperability
- Veterinary Educational Technology: Information technology in education, Universities, Hospitals, Clients
Submissions are invited from both inside and outside the veterinary profession wherever information technologies have been shown effective in solving real problems for veterinarians. Presentations will be chosen competitively with preferences to those aligned with the symposium’s theme and/or with information a practitioner might take back to practice. Multiple presentations by the same author are strongly encouraged.
