The Northeast Center is accepting presentation proposals for its May 2017 What Works conference, to be held in conjunction with the annual conferences of Create West Virginia and Universal Design Today. The submission deadline is December 15, 2016, and submission guidelines are now available. The rural innovation-focused triple-header conference seeks presentations that answer the question, How do we (re)create buildings, communities, learning places, programs and products to better meet needs of 21st Century people?
To this end, we seek high-quality presentations that will stimulate, inspire, motivate, and advance knowledge of and practices related to rural business innovation and economic development.
Presentations can cover:
- Research Papers, Work-in-Progress and Proposal Ideas
- Extension Programs (Education & Training)
- Educational Curriculum & Teaching Pedagogy
- Policy Design & Proposals
- Case Studies & Student Projects
Session Topics:
Session topics can include, but are not limited to: new products, services (such as agri-tourism) or business processes, including those based in the arts, or creative ways of valorizing while preserving natural assets, including wilderness trails, whitewater rafting and the development of other nature-based recreational opportunities; housing; community design, education; technology; business and entrepreneurship; placemaking.
