Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy’s Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities, Research and Education will host its 10th Anniversary Health Disparities Conference March 16–18, 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Conference participants will include clinicians (pharmacists, physicians, nurses, physician assistants, and allied health professionals), health policy makers, researchers, health educators, public and community health leaders, and students whose work incorporates the use of multidisciplinary partnerships that build collaborations to eliminate health disparities, achieve health equity, and create healthier communities.

Previous conference attendee evaluations indicated that the abstract podium presentations enhanced the effectiveness of the conference and helped to stimulate discussions surrounding community centered, basic, and clinical research; and health policy. Evaluations, most importantly, indicated that presentations initiated discussions on the inclusion of interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaborations between community, academic and other resource partners. Our planning committee will continue to build on this momentum as we develop content for the 2017 Conference.

Advances in Evidence-Based Practices to Eliminate Disparities and Achieve Health Equity in Building Healthier Communities: Lessons Learned

We are soliciting abstracts for poster and podium presentation. More specifically, we seek scientific and/or informative abstracts that reflect the focus of the conference. The upcoming conference will focus on replicable interprofessional collaborative models and approaches from the clinical, research, and community arenas that integrate all levels of providers to improve health outcomes, eliminate health disparities, and achieve health equity. Selected abstracts will be presented during poster sessions or podium presentations during Concurrent Scientific Sessions.
