Help educate the public and healthcare community about myositis!

Why do we need awareness? On average it takes more than three-and-a-half years and five doctors to receive a correct autoimmune disease diagnosis. Myositis patients—including frantic parents of drastically weakened children—find that a great deal of damage is done during this wait. Raising awareness of myositis, its symptoms, and treatments will help these patients and families.

Events provide an excellent opportunity to educate the public about myositis and bring much-needed attention to the importance of research funding. TMA is available to help you with your campaign, including choosing an event, finding volunteers, gaining media attention, and managing the finances.

10 to 30 members attending meeting, 60% female 40% male,, ages 45 and over

Would like speakers on the following topics: physical therapy, acupuncture, debilitating diseases, positive thinking, humor, motivation, assistive devices, information for caregivers, and being your own medical advocate.
