The Sacramento Area Human Resource Association was originally founded in 1956 by a small group of local personnel professionals interested in sharing information, experiences, and self-development opportunities, and creating a more visible presence for the profession in the Sacramento region. Initially named the Sacramento Personnel Association, the chapter was renamed the Personnel Association of Sacramento in 1988.

The human resources management profession is perhaps the most challenging, diverse and varied of all management disciplines. As such, SAHRA places particular emphasis on program, informational and educational topics that are currently and timely issues of interest to members each year.
